It has been a difficult few years for British business. What started as The Credit Crunch in 2008 quickly became the longest recession in recent history. With major manufacturing at an all-time low and many household names no longer trading, businesses are always on the lookout to save money. If it is looking to the internet for cheaper deals for everything, buying in bulk or changing suppliers of day to day equipment there is no end to the ways in which you might save money.

The issue of who supplies our pens, paper, branded goods and computer equipment is not a safety issue. However, in some cases businesses are searching for cheaper equipment that could be dangerous for their staff.

We are all currently awaiting various announcements from government sources relating to changes ahead within health and safety, and a very positive item is the formation of a Consultants Register which we quote will allow a ‘Common Sense – Common Safety’ approach and a part of this will be achieved by companies using Health and Safety consultants who give correct advice.  This will be known as the Occupational Safety Consultants Register (OSCR).  Those allowed on this register will be consultants who have proved their competence and hold the correct qualifications which will help companies to assure themselves that the consultant they choose is qualified to give them correct advice.  Our consultants are all qualified and will be included on this register when it goes live.  The following text is from the HSE website:
